UPDATE ALERT!

This blog is officially back in business. I've cut the posts that were out of date/irrelevent/old news, and kept the rest. Been a year or so, so Im a bit rusty. I'm dusting off the virtual typewriter and cracking my knuckles for another series of posts that will leave you salivating on the floor, shaking convulsively and with a giant hardon for more....Well, maybe not.

Dylan film in pre-production

Dylan film in pre-production
May 17, 2005

Director Todd Haynes (Superstar: the Karen Carpenter Story) is working on a new film, I'm Not There, that seems to be a quasi-biography of Bob Dylan starring multiple actors as Dylan (or some spiritual representation of him), including three women. Stars in the movie include Julianne Moore, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Cate Blancett, Colin Farrell, Adrien Brody and Richard Gere.

Think: Once again, as G-d has done every morning -- and indeed every moment -- of your life, G-d has placed a soul within you and made your existence significant. G-d has put you on earth with a distinct and unique mission: to bring G-d's presence into your corner of the universe.

Try to make this your first conscious thought of the day, and the first words you speak.

Train yourself to do this every morning, and your entire life will gain a new, sharper focus.

Mulling it Over

(Friday Morning)
I found out I got the job at the pharma plant. I was going to celebrate by inviting my gf to lunch. Instead I'm listening to Weezer while polishing off the bottle of Sailor Jerry left over from last weekend. Tell you more later.

(Thursday Afternoon)
I lost my job at the porno place. Was bought out by Larry Flynt Productions, and they didn't know how to keep the company running independently. Probably just wanted to buy out the competition anyway - couldn't care if it survived or not. Anyway, I'm out of work again, and it's nice! Today, I wasted an entire afternoon and evening on the computer, and listening to mp3's. Life can be sweet, you know? Anyway, if I don't hear from the pharmaceutical place by tomorrow, it's back down to the Securitas office, to ask for another post. My gf felt sorry for me today, and took me out for a BLT sandwich, even though she was high, and took a chance driving. So, I'm doing what I like to do (loaf!), and getting rewarded for it. What could be better than that, huh?

The Final Straw

Today, some enterprising stranger tried to cause me to knock him out. I don't know why he set his sights so low, or why it appeared good in his eyes (I'm through trying to figure out other people's lights), but I was shocked at the miserableness of his situation. Thinking on it now, 16 hours later, in the comfortableness of my desk chair, an inviting bottle of brandy at the ready, I only hope his day was as productive and peaceful as mine was.

Have You Read This?

Robert Burns

I
Is there, for honest poverty,
That hangs his head, and a' that?
The coward-slave, we pass him by,
We dare be poor for a' that!
For a' that, and a' that,
Our toils obscure, and a' that;
The rank is but the guinea-stamp,
The man's the gowd for a' that!

II
What tho' on hamely fare we dine,
Wear hoddin grey, and a' that;
Gi'e fools their silks, and knaves their wine
A man's a man for a' that!
For a' that, and a' that,
Their tinsel show, and a' that;
The honest man, though e'er sae poor,
Is king o' men for a' that!

III
Ye see yon birkie, ca'd a lord,
Wha struts, and stares, and a' that;
Though hundreds worship at his word,
He's but a coof for a' that;
For a' that, and a' that,
His riband, star, and a' that,
The man of independent mind
He looks and laughs at a' that!

IV
A prince can mak' a belted knight,
A marquis, duke, and a' that,
But an honest man's aboon his might,
Guid faith he mauna fa' that!
For a' that, and a' that,
Their dignities, and a' that,
The pith o' sense, and pride o' worth,
Are higher ranks than a' that.

Then let us pray that come it may---
As come it will for a' that---
That sense and worth, o'er a' the earth,
May bear the gree, and a' that;
For a' that, and a' that,
It's comin' yet for a' that,
That man to man, the world o'er,
Shall brothers be for a' that!

Computer Stuff

My new favorite site for brushing up on my computer savvy and resolving problems with the computer is:

Major Geeks.

Did you know that that software you paid good money for can be replaced by a free alternative that works as well or better? Yup, even staid MS Office has a free alternative called Open Office.

For the best of the best Freeware check out Pricelessware.Org, run by folks dedicated to the tradition of Public Domain software. Every program there has been tested and certified Virus, Spyware, and Trojan-free.
